OGS and NSERC Information

Attention 4th year CS Undergraduate Students:

If you are planning to enter graduate studies next year and intend to apply for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) postgraduate scholarship, please check the following web sites for information sessions, submission deadlines and contacts for assistance.

REFERENCES:

You need to arrange 2 references for each competition from faculty members as soon as possible. Please note the advice about securing references and providing your referees with the necessary information to write a strong reference. If you use referees who are non-faculty, such as co-op employers, please make sure they are able to comment on your academic and research ability as these are major evaluation criteria in these competitions. If they are not able to comment on these criteria, select referees who are familiar with your academic work. A weak reference will not help your application.

Please order a Waterloo transcript for each competition from Jackie Hilts at jhilts@cs.uwaterloo now and provide the following information:

When filling out the applications, FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES to the letter, using the required headings and formatting shown in the guidelines, particularly for the free form pages in the NSERC application. We screen your applications and you will be required to correct ALL errors , so take the time to read the instructions carefully.

NOTE: Please check the eligibility requirements before starting your applications as these are not negotiable. If you do not meet these requirements, your application will be discarded.

All external transcripts and external references (from other universities) can be directed to:
