Presentation and Meeting Rooms

Setup Support

We are often asked for assistance in computer setup in various presentation rooms. It usually involves being sure that presenter's laptop will properly connect to a projector, and connect to the network. This can especially be a problem for visitors.

We usually arrive before a presentation to verify that our own equipment works with the room. Once the presenter(s) arrive, we test their equipment.

For a single presenter, once the presentation starts, and equipment seems to be working, we have the option to leave, provided that the presentation sponsor has agreed (in advance). When there are changes during a presentation, typically by having multiple presenters, we stay until the last presenter. We try to stay out of the way.

This can sometimes be an opportunity to get other work done (using a laptop) while still being available should there be a problem.

We have various connectors handy in connecting laptops to the projectors (typically VGA). We have provided ICR with a "Presentation Connection Kit" (see ST #95704) so that they have recourse when we're not available.
