DFSc upgrade to Octopus

• upgrade went well.
• maybe trim snapshots and enable compaction on OSDs.

May 6,7 and part of 8th problems.

• Post mortem in summery of RT #1153008
• enabling snapshots after upgrade made the system go into full recovery mode, rebuilding the file volumes, OSD's.
• Turned off snapshots and scrubs Thursday night.
• scrubs turned back on Monday morning.
• still low on iops per TB (issue being dealt with in Pacific)
• want to review how we can decouple essential services (like Web service) from cephfs hangs.

Minimum Client requirements.

• make sure system in using hwe kernel (min version 5.4)
  • use "uname -r" to get kernel release version info
• get all Cephfs clients up to nautilus (version 14) at a minimum
  • use " ceph health detai | head -20 l" on any of the servers
  • use "dpkg -s libcephfs2 |grep Version" on a client.
• new setups get Octopus.
• need to check samba and NSF-ganesha bridges. (Clayton)
  • these are reporting they support up to features compatible with jewel (version 10)
• NFS-Ganesha 3.4 for the NFS with Kerberos bridge
