academic

I'm working on my fourth degree.
I've got an M.Sc. from Queen's and B.Sc.'s from UBC and Carleton, twice as much BS as the next guy!
For details, see my c.v.

travel

I love traveling. If I can figure out a way to do all this computer stuff on a laptop from beaches here & there, I'll be the happiest guy you know (or don't know, I guess I don't know who you are right now :-)). I've spent some time in every Canadian province, but no territories yet (I know, Inuvik or bust!). You know what? They're all very cool. Even Saskatchewan.

<my humble opinion>
I think that you should see your own country some before you go abroad.
Many Canadians don't, and it's a real shame.
It gives you a real frame of reference, and you get more out of your travels.

If you're interested, I've dug deep and built a map:

places i've lived

I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. It's a nice town to visit if you like the outdoors, and it would be a nice sort of place to retire in. I lived in Ottawa for about 6 years while going to Carleton, and most of my family moved there while I was there. It's really that nice of a city! I hope to live there again one day. I lived in Nara, Japan for a year in 2001. It is an amazing place, filled with history and culture. I lived in Vancouver for a few years after that while at UBC. It's rated one of the top cities in the world to live in for many good reasons. Next, I lived in Kingston, one of the finest cities in Ontario, what with all the limestone and history. And finally, I now live in Waterloo.
I've been lucky :-)
