Information for Prospective Graduate Students

Thanks for your interest in my research and in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science.

I'm sorry but due to the number of requests I get from students to evaluate their background and suitability for graduate studies at Waterloo I'm unable to handle these types of requests. The only way to find out if you'll be accepted is to apply. Please note that I'm not on the admissions committee.

When you apply for graduate studies at Waterloo you are automatically considered for funding. In fact I don't think our department accepts students unless we can fund them. Our level of funding is competitive with other institutions. Our very top students receive an additional $10,000/yr of funding through Cheriton Scholarships.

For information about applications and admission to our graduate program see: Applications & Admissions to Graduate Studies. For information about funding and tuition see: Admissions, Fees and Financial Support. For information about our school see http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca.

If you decide to send me email please make early mention that you've read this web page. It's an easy way to distinguish students who are actually interested in working with me from students who just send email to every professor on the planet.

There are a number of faculty at the University of Waterloo with similar interests and some new faculty as well, so even if I'm not able to accept you you may have an opportunity to study here with someone else. We have a large number of faculty doing systems related research. They tend to be associated with the following areas:
