Life outside the classroom

The UW campus provides not only academic facilities but also museums, art galleries, theatres, pubs, coffee shops, an arena, music studios, church chapels, hiking trails, and an observatory.   The Student Life Centre gives you a place to meet, eat, study, shop, and relax. The campus-wide Federation of Students hosts more than 100 clubs including the UW Investment Club, the Swing and Social Dance Club, the Debating Society, the Knitting Club and everything in between. For athletic options, join one of the many varsity teams, athletics clubs, instructional programs , or recreational activities, including archery, badminton, bouldering, curling, dance, fencing, golf, juggling, kendo, martial arts, mountain biking, rowing, skating, skiing, snowboarding, squash, swimming, table tennis, tai chi, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and yoga.

There are many opportunities to interact with fellow Computer Science students, to learn from them and, when you've learned the ropes, to help others. The Computer Science Club organizes talks, tutorials, and demonstrations. The Math Faculty has its own student government (Math Society, or MathSoc) and newspaper (mathNews).
