Research Interests

Professor Li's main research focus is in bioinformatics algorithms and software. His main focus recently is protein structure prediction systems and homology search algorithms.

On a different front, Professor Li is also working on fundamental research in Kolmogorov complexity, information distance and their applications in average case analysis of algorithms and data mining.

Major Awards

Killam Prize (2010); University Professor (2009); Ontario's Premier Discovery Award for Innovation and Leadership (2009); Fellow of the IEEE (2006); Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (2006); Fellow of the ACM (2006); Canada Research Chair in Bioinformatics (2002); Canada Council Killam Research Fellowship (2001); NSERC E.W.R.
