University of Waterloo undergraduate computer science students, Krista Odger, Shanti Mailvaganam, Michelle Den Hollander, Alice Hai, and Claire Andrews, win the 2010 Games4Girls competition.
Held annually by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, this girls-only competition asks university teams to develop a computer game to be fun for junior and high school students.
Women in Computer Science sponsored a meeting in December 2009 to help organize Waterloo’s team. Lori Case served as their faculty advisor over the past few months during the development of their award-winning game: Alessa in Wonderland.
As explained by the event organizers, “In this game, the player poses as Alessa, an average high school girl who has been summoned to another world. With help from witches and mermaids, she has to defeat great evil which has captured their prince.”
Go to the Games4Girls website to download a copy of their game or get more information on the Games4Girls competion.
Congratulations!
