Matthew Millard (Systems Design Engineering), Stephen Fung (Computer Engineering) and Yu Zhu (Software Engineering), three Waterloo undergraduates who were on a CO-OP term at Sun Microsystems, are to receive the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom) 2005.
They will receive the award for their paper "Sizzle: A Standards-based End-to-End Security Architecture for the Embedded Internet". Sizzle is their nickname for the world's smallest secure web server; the device is roughly the size of a quarter. The project is joint work with Vipul Gupta, Nils Gura, Hans Eberle, and Sheueling Chang of Sun.
